We are recruiting for two new positions on the FWSA executive committee: Membership Officer and Conference & Events Officer. Membership Officer
This key role organises and administrates the FWSA’s membership, including payments and email lists.
Key responsibilities include:
- Growing our membership through promotion, working alongside the Communications Officers and Publicity Officer.
- Liaising with the Treasurer/Co-chairs about membership fees/payments and ensuring smooth transactions
- Organising the FWSA Jiscmail list
- Organising correspondence with members and answering queries
- Ensuring membership lists and payments are up to date
Good organisation skills are essential. We are looking to grow the FWSA membership in the coming years, and the Membership Officer will be key to ensuring this runs smoothly.
Terms of office run for 3 years in the first instance and it is expected that Executive members engage with the running of the FWSA through regular attendance at Executive and AGM meetings and regular contact with other Executive members.

Conference & Events Officer
This key role involves taking primary responsibility for organising FWSA conferences and events around the UK and Ireland, working closely with the FWSA Co-Chairs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Liaising with outside partners to find suitable venues/funding streams.
- Organising conference themes/speakers/travel and accommodation etc.
- Managing conference budgets
- Promoting FWSA events, in liaison with the Communications Officers and Publicity Officer.
- Attending the event to ensure its smooth running
We would like to develop the FWSA’s conferences and events over the next few years, and would like to appoint an Officer with enthusiasm to think of interesting themes which speak to the FWSA’s Mission Statement. There is space for creativity in this role to make our events exciting and we are open to ideas for events which are alternative to “traditional” academic formats.
